The Tower Awards are presented to those who are involved in Bristol’s many impressive towers. Every tower in the city has a story to tell, whether it’s an ancient stone structure, a relic of the past, or a brave new landmark. The 2010 Tower Awards will be presented in two categories: •Highrise Buildings – for high rise buildings of over 13 storeys (or 52m) in height and have a clear façade. •Exterior Buildings – for non-residential buildings (such as office blocks, civic centres and civic buildings) of between 4 and 13 storeys (or 20m to 52m) in height, and have a clear façade. Bristol Tower (1872) – the only three-stepped clocktower in Europe The Bristol Civic Society is very grateful to the following organisations for their nominations: • BGS, Local Enterprise Partnerships and the Somerset County Council for the naming of Bell Lane/West Street and Castlemead Road as Carriage Way; • Bristol City Council and Bristol Port Company for the naming of Bay Street as Harbour Street; • Bristol and West Building Control and the Bristol Foundation for the naming of the Walcot Gap, Emersons Street, East Street and Clewer Road; • Bristol City Council for the naming of Carlton Street as Lower Wills Road; • Bristol City Council for the naming of Dolphin’s Barn Street and Portway Street; • Bristol City Council for the naming of Eastwood Road and Avon Road; • Bristol and West Building Control for the naming of Avon Road, Lower Wills Road, and Butchers Hill Road; • Avon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service for the naming
